Year end window-dressing to boost Malaysian shares
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Traditional year-end
window-dressing could push Malaysian shares higher on Tuesday,
though volumes may be thin heading into the holiday period. Wall Street's weaker close overnight may have little effect
as the local stock market appears to have decoupled from events
in the United States," said an institutional dealer at a
bank-backed brokerage. "We expect the market could close higher but trade will be
thin," the dealer said. "Based on the trend over the last
couple of days, there could still be some window-dressing."Local fund managers have factored in the impact of a weak
global economy on equities trading worldwide and are looking
forward to more stimulus plans by U.S. President-elect Barack
Obama to revive the world's largest economy, he said. Malaysia's benchmark stock index .KLSE closed Monday 0.34
percent down at 873.43.
